Clams and N

Without actually reading, does it say the clams uptake the Nitrates, if so I swear it happened in my last system, high nitrates, added a clam and bam, much lower no3

Yes, it’s a little dense but the clams are using nitrate because their symbionts are extracellular (which is different from corals). Maybe that means they are more impacted by nitrate bottoming out? This extracellular set up may make them more impacted by all changes too.

Maybe it’s what keeping my tank alive. I haven’t done a water change for 6 months.
Either this or the gigantic aptaisias. :p

I have (2) Dersas and my nitrates have gone from 65 to 42 in a few weeks when I added the 2nd clam
