Clownfish Credit

I was curious if anyone knows any vendors within New England that would take clownfish for store credit. I went from raising the fry with my kids as a fun project to having several breeding pairs, but I don't have the drive to sell them full time or ship them. I would take cents on the dollar. If not I will probably stop raising the fry.

And yes I 100% understand this is the issue with breeding them, supply drastically outpaces demand, I just figured I would throw out a final message before I shut it down because I am definitely not looking to make a profit, just looking some incentive to keep going (a couple frags a month, something).

Try reaching out to your LFS or some of the sponsors as I'm sure they would gladly take locally bred fish for cheap. If I ever get lucky and catch my mandarin pair's eggs I want to try and raise them and get store credit for them and I've heard of other club members doing that.

I wish you were closer as I will be looking for 15-20 babies from the same clutch to start a clownfish harem tank within the next few months if life starts calming down...

I could meet you half way. However in my experience the harem tank doesn’t work, at least not long term. Skunks would work.

I haven’t had any luck with LFS within 30 mins or so which is why I figured I’d hit up the boards.

I have little kids, but I have toyed with the idea of scaling up and doing other breeds - bangaii, royal gramma. My kids really enjoy raising them but the time commitment is a lot. I have also reached out to RWU which is right near me, and comically I used to teach there, but they’ve never responded.

I ended up sending a bunch to Michigan and the rest to Arizona after posting them on another website. After all was said and done I’m sure the only profit was the experience of seeing them from eggs to young adults. All things being the same, I would try a clutch again.

If you find remote buyers, and need some shipping materials, hit me up.
