Clowns in a 120 gal

Do you think we could put a pair of onyx, and a pair of true percula in a 4' 120 gallon ? When we get the 120 going, I'd like to brake down my son's 40b. He said that it would be fine, IF we keep his onyx.

It's a risk. But I have seen tanks with tons of clowns in them. Just introduce them at the same time and hopefully they will stay to there own sides.

I put 5 percs, babies, in my 180 and they fought

I'm torn, with what I think. 5 babies are still trying to figure out who will be the dominate one.. ours are both mated pairs.

You can do it. One of our customers has 6 pairs of clowns in their 220g, and definitely multiple customers have more than 1 pair of clownfish. Usually they end up finding their own spot. 150g is big enough for 2 pairs to sort it out. Of course in the end they are fish so nothing is 100% guaranteed.

One thing that seems to have worked great for a lot of our customers is an acclimation box. The cheaper route that I recommend my customers to take is to go to PetCo, and they have clear acrylic boxes with holes in them. After acclimating the new fish, put it in that box and hang it in the tank. Let the fish get used to each other and other fish, and then release them. So for you, 2 clowns will be in the tank, and other 2 will be in the acclimation box for a few hours or a day or two.

Hope that helps!

Two pairs in a 120 I'd think would be fine, they'll each find their own spots in that size tank, I think....

I have 4 clowns in my 120. They are all descending in size.

You can try it but I will say that it will not work for the long run.
Occelaris might be okay but Percula(onyx) are a lot more aggressive and will kill off each other until there's two left.
I've tried many times as I love Onyx clowns.

Both pairs are jerks, I'm hoping were they are in small tanks now, they MAY do ok in a bigger one. We'llhave to leave a tank running just in case.

Are they hosting in anything? Clowns are more territorial when they have something to protect. Definitely be prepare to scoop them out. :)

Tried adding 2 pairs of hosting clowns to my 120. Bad experiment. 1 down the overflow and one beaten up.
