Collecting tropicals in LI....just got back from a 3 day trip

My family and I just got back from a 3 day collecting trip in LI wednesday night. We made out pretty well both snorkeling and seining a few spots on LI.
The best day we had, however, was when Justin (Aquaman Imports) showed us his secret seining spot. :D Justin is a great guy...was super nice and really helpful, and he sure knows his stuff! He made it an awesome day...although not the most productive day in terms of number of fish in Justin's eyes, my family and I were really excited about the catch. We got quite a few blue spotted cornetfish, a striped burrfish, two seahorses, a few spotfin butterflies, a jack, and a lookdown. All are doing great so far, and most are eating well on live brine...next step will be to slowly ween them onto fresh and frozen foods.

If anyone ever has the chance to go collecting with Justin, definitely take it. Justin is awesome and you will not be disappointed with the amazing fish you'll pull in. ;)

Here are a few pics from the trip...

If you have any luck with weaning the cornetfish, I'd love to hear your methods. Mine just shies away from food on a stick, and ignores food when it's floating- except for other fish in the QT tank....

Awesome. I went seining and snorkeling everyday this summer in ri. Caught lots of the cornetfish, butterflies and puffers. Be nice to get some seining partners from this site. I'm going out this weekend as well.
