Anyone know any reputable contractor that do plumbing, wiring some eletrical wire or design the whole system?

Trying to build a system in basement to pump up water to the display tank on the first floor, and drain back down. Also thinking of doing water change in the basement.

Please recommend or PM me. Thank you !!!!

Good to know Choff!

I did mine myself. I started with a red sea max 650, then did exactly what you are planning. I removed the oem sump, custom built a 125 sump in the basement below along with a 40b frag tank, 40b fuge and an auto water change system that changes out 1 gallon every 4 hours using 2 55g barrels. My wastewater is pumped out back into a 4 foot pit filled with stone.

The ft and fuge are plumbed in such a way that either or both can be taken offline if need be.

All the pipes coming from the ft are because I put a bean animal overflow which is totally unnecessary in a basement sump room, but did it for kicks.

Reality

To be honest, this is fish room 2.0. My first attempt was pretty bad. I tried to wing it without much planning. It was a functional disaster. It looked good, but the day to day operation was a nightmare. I really took my time and planned this one out carefully and I'm happy to say that after running for a full year I have yet to come up with a single thing I wish I did differently. The 3d cad drawing was key. I had zero surprises during construction as everything was designed to scale. I spent many hours on it, but in the end it was worth it.

Choff,
Great design to realization on the fish room. How big is your fish room? I've dedicated an 8x8 room(after framing will be 7x7). Hope to make the best of it. I plan on putting a sink in there as well since the wife hates it when I wash my fish equipment. Actually, I'm banished to the basement with the new build.

Mike might scare the kids but he does a great concept to reality!

ha! Kids and dogs love me...people, not so much lol

7x7 will be awesome and should give you plenty of space if used efficiently. I'm using 8' along each wall, but that's it. The room is actually our bulk storage room and the rest of the wall are lined with shelves and a fridge. So you will also have a back and side wall. I would kill for a sink and a floor drain, but we are on septic so there is no basement plumbing. Vent well!

I used google sketch up, which is free and that was my first time using it. It's really easy to pick up.

Damn, that's google sketch? I have the full blown Autocad(through work) and I can't even draw a cylinder. Nice work!

It was painful, but it got the job done. Wish I had autocad. I used that when I was in college....with a light pen. Thought that was the coolest thing ever back in 1988. I think that was rev11 or 12. Can't imagine how slick that is now.

wow great looking room. I wish I had the room for something like that. I use to love when the club would do tank tours of members houses, thats one I would love to see

You have convinced me to spend some time with Autocad. I've read some tutorial today and should be able to study it more on the weekend. I can now join the cool club with my 3D drawing of my tank set up.
I'm using AutoCad 2012.
