Copper question?

I was making up some water change water and noticed that my son had tossed one of those copper wires left over from when my husband was wiring the basement. Should I toss the water and make up new? I think it was only in there a day, also can I use the container or will susequent batches have a copper problem?:(

Does the copper look corroded? Carbon should remove it if you are worried. You could also do a small water change first and see if you see a problem. I'm guessing this will not be a big problem, but if you were raising inverts in small isolated flasks, it would probably not be good to use.

It's only 8 gallons so I can probably make new since I did not put the salt in just yet, stinks having to wait for RODI to fill. The bucket should be fine to use again correct.

I was going to ask about the salt, I thought you had already added it. I'd say there is much less risk if you have not added salt.
