Does anyone know if liverock that has been in a tank once treated with any kind of copper compound will harm corals, inverts, pods or anything else if used in another tank? I have heard people say yes and no... but it's all been heresay... does anyone truly understand the potential impact if there is one?

Thanks

It will leach out over time and cause problems with your corals and inverts?
I've even heard of it leaching out of silicon.
Why?

If you already have the liverock you could test it for copper by putting it in a container with fresh water and letting it circulate for a few days (weeks? month?) then test the water to see if it has leeched out.

I'm going to play it safe... I'm setting up a new tank and I have a few pieces of kickass rock that were used in a cichlid tank that I wanted to use. I've caused problems for myself in the past by cutting corners and not taking all of the necessary precautions.
