Sounds a little silly but does anyone have a good method for preserving dead coral skeletons? I want to mount a couple ones I have on my desk. I was thinking I would just soak them in a mild bleach solution to clean em off then spray them with some type of dry clear glue to keep them from being too brittle.

poly will prob stain it..i just leave mine outside to rid the smell for a few days

just figured since it was clear it might seal it and make it strong. def would fill the pores though so i guess it would change the look

I heard once not sure if it's true soak in peroxide for a week or 2

Just let it bleach in the sun for a few weeks.
That's how I got my Fungia coral nice and white.

Sorry about the mix-up. I took a couple skeletons from my tank and I'm going to put them on my desk at work.

Poly acrylic, can get it to brush on or a spray. It doesn't have the tint or smell that the urethane has and it dries a lot faster.

I think anyhting you coat it with will dull it and likely yellow overtime.Like stingythingy45 mentioned put in the sun for a week or so they will be bright white.Then maybe once a yr as needed do it again to refresh it.
