Coraline algea??

Royalty

Reefer In Training
i just noticed that some of my LR that has purple coraline algea is turning white??

Im going to get a test kit today. If I get my levels to where they need to be will it turn back to normal?

It'll grow back. But I'd also try to find out whats making your calcium go down.

There may have been enough calcium in the salt mix to get a small amount of algae growing.
But when that was depleated by the algae growing it started to bleach.

If you don't suppliment calcium just coralline algae alone can consume a good ammount of Ca and that's probably the reason why it's low.

Well the thing is the coraline algea I have have now came from someone elses tank after I bought he's LR I noticed that some peaces of LR had coraline alea growth on them I thought I had hit the jackpot think I would speed up the process for my other LR.:D

It's great to have a rock with coralline to get things going. But without calcium/alk and Mg. supplements.Or a really good quality salt mix that many nano tank people use.
It will be short lived.Coralline growth and health is a great way to tell if water parameters are right for sps, lps.Calcium also helps snails and shrimp to build healthy strong shells.

I think that might be the reason . I haven't added anything to the tank bessides the basics LR/dead rock, live sand che co I did add some hermits and a snail there some bacteria in my tank along with brittle worms and stuff but that was after I cycled my tank a month back I guess after adding more Live sand and disturbing the sand bed my nitrates went up way up to 160 that was last week after a huge water change almost 70%

you see I'am having a all round bad day I bought a light fixture that wont help with my coral so now I have to start with a FO tank instead which might not be a bad thing! then I lose my wallet with my rent and play money then my girlfriend thinks I lost her gps so now she's mad at me. And I finally get myself a test kit but its not the right kind I really need to step back and relex:mad: theres to much going on today . I need a drink!;)
