never had a fuge before. but i have the HQI biocube and it has a fuge in the middle chamber. but i also want to customize the AquaFuge2™ hang-on refugium to go in the stand of my biocube.

i plan on getting:
Small AquaFuge2
Includes Powerhead
Water Capacity: 2.50 Gallons
Dimensions: 13" L x 4.5" W x 12" T
Product Code: AF2SM

gravity will feed water into the refugium, and a pump will pump it out.

sounded great until i thought, what if the power went out and I'm not home...... is there any way to stop the water from going every-were??

whats the best way to do this?

EDIT:
HERE IS A LINK!

thank you all

I would assume you would need to have either a float valve that would shut off the water entering the fuge at a certain level. If its anything like my HOB fuge with the skimmer built in there is very much space at the top to accomplish this. The only other way I can think of would be a battery backup for that pump only?

Easy actually. Get an external overflow for the BioCube. It will overflow into the sump but when you put the desired water level in both tanks, neither will overflow from there because the sump can only fill with so much water before the BioCube's overflow stops overflowing due to the lowering waterlevel. Then when power is restored, the return pump turns back on, pumps water into the BioCube from the sump, the BioCube overflows back into the sump, and the process continues again.

Been thinking about getting one someday myself.

As to whether or not that specific external overflow will fit int he back of your BioCube... That will require some research on your end, but I would imagine it could.

Everything is better after it's modified.

om my thread in reef section someone said this ^

would this work??

would a cpr overflow stop the water from siphoning if the power went out? any one have one?

You'll need an overflow box on the back of the tank or drill the tank. For a Bio-Cube either situation is not ideal. The risk of a flood is high. Deal with a fuge in one of the rear compartments until you can get a bigger set up.

even with overflow box not a good idea? i dont plan on anything larger......

you will need to do some measuring to make sure an over flow box would fit and then the hood would more than likely need to be cut up to get that overflow box to fit

would the over flo stop in a power outage? i can modify things and cut things i dont mind.
