I was going to run filter floss, before the return.
I was thinking of a heater, but change my mind on that idea also.
Right now it is housing frag disks while the rock cycles..

So far I am pleased with the rock preparation for the use of pegging the frag disks.
I am going to try and commit to using only disk frags and not plug .
My plan is to drill thru the frag disks 1/2 way and apply a 1/4 hard tubing into that whole with gel super glue. Leave about 1-1 1/2" of tubing extended to slide into the peg holes......

Wow, So Barry...if your sump leaks after the tank is filled up...(even a couple years later.....)Then what do you do? Scream, Cry, or both!!!
I had a similar problemn when I built my stand...when I went to slide the sump in it would fit...(even after measuring.....) One of the center braces that was vertical & fastened in already, was in the way...I ended up cutting the opening of my doors larger..(It was nice I had enough overhang on the doors or I would have been making oversized doors!! thats an option... if need be..

This build has also been a learning leason, that things just don't go as you planned....

when considering the basement...consider a few things...
1) is it cold in the winter? (if so it will cost a fortune to heat the tank water)
2) Is it damp in the basement? (if it is now it will be twice or three times as)
Some people who plumb in the basement create a serious health issue inside their home with mold!!
Just things to consider...
Just keeping my sump under tank is a little of a hassle to some who see it..They comment as they wouldn't want to have to work in the crouched position....When you get acustomed to it it really isn't too bad (well for for me that is) By keeping my sump undertank even with all the MH pumping & chiller working(which is located in the basement) & all my other electical draws my tank doesn't add up to more than 85.00 a month on the high end & 65.00 on the low end...Done the math with a kilowatt at various times of the year so I'm sure it is very accurate..
A big reason for that is the heater...It doesn't go on much at all...If the sump was in the basement it would be on all day in the winter & fall...People don't realize how much electric a heater uses....
Just something to keep in the back of the mind....
Can't wait to see the tank full of rock!! It's been a while for ya!!

If plumbed the garage is below and it is cold for darn sure in there, I don't want to pay for that heat constantly.
I don't need any more moisture in the basement either. I guess in regards to your original question asked "If the tank leaks after a year or two what will I do"? I will do both scream & cryIt will be necessary to cut that sump out from the front and fabricate the closure of the front doors in another fashion after the fact
Under the cabinet is much tighter than expected. I might have to deal with it and work with what I have.
.I am now thinking about water top off.. that's another story ?

Water top off shouldn't be too much a problem putting in the garage or basement...Evap rate shouldn't excede more 1.5 gals per day at the very most with the sump under the cabinet....If you need a little help on what your options are you can pm me....I'll LYK what I use....
