Hi

I am starting marine aquarium for 1st time and would appreciate advice on live rock curing.

My aquarium capacity of 34 gallon and I am thinking of putting around 40 lbs of live rock in it. As cured live rock is much expensive than the uncured rock, I am thinking of buying around 5lbs of cured live rock and remaining in uncured rock.

Would this quicken curing process of uncured live rocks? Is pairing of cured rocks and uncured rocks advisable?

Sure thats a fine way to do it. Do you plan on putting live sand in the tank also? Just remember rule #1 in a saltwater tank is patience.

Yeah that's a pretty common route to go. I think most people do that. Get a bunch of Marco (I'm biased. :)) dry rock and seed it with some live rock. The best thing is if you get a bit of live rock from a few different sources. That will typically bring in a more diverse range of life to get things going. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the for sale forums. Any rock you get from an established tank is going to be vastly superior to live rock from a retail store. And it's generally cheaper too.
