Cycling tank now got some Q's

So just ran some tests to see how the cycle is going.

My ammonia was pretty low, had a spike the other day. My nitrite was out the roof and was higher then anything on the chart....and my ph was low around 7.8,

Is a low PH normal during cycle, or should I throw in some booster?

Next I also put in some ammonia jump start stuff, Nitromax?

also have about 5lbs of live rock and 40lbs of dry, in a 44G tank (is it possible to have to much live rock?)

Just wanted to make sure things are looking semi normal for a cycle and that I should just be patient and it will all work out.

Thanks,

you cant have to much LR. ppl like 1lb of rock per tank gl. is the rock in the tank you are cycleing? if not id put it in and cycle it all together. ph is a bit low but not to bad id just let it cycle IMO.

Yea all the rock is in there. I know the rock doubles from Dry to Live so it would be like having 60ish lbs of "live rock" in there so thats why I asked that NEWB QUESTION

In my opinion let it cycle, do a water change, test things, then adjust anything if necessary.

agreed, I would stay away from the additives.............................and let it go though the normal process of cycling
when did u add water and turn the pumps on? how long ago?

a week ago I started everything up! I just added that Nitromax once I doubt I will do it again, I think it just adds ammonia into the water instead of like a dead shrimp to get the rocks to produce the bacteria.
