Ok, that darn Sanjay's got me thinking about redoing my light hood again, Cuss Cuss Cuss..........

I can't seem to find anywhere that has the luminarc's for DE bulbs, but I've seen pics of them so I know (think I know) they are making them now.

Anyone seen any LFS's or E-tailers listing them reccently?

Thks

Actually, IIRC, he didn't mention SE vs DE luminarc's at all. He just used the luminarc's for examples in an overview of the reflector testing.

As he was going over the same reflector data we all have spent way too much time going over already, it clicked for me to reconsider making them fit for my system.

I reccently swapped out 3x250 SE for 2x250 DE + 1x150 DE. I had both setups flanked by VHO actinics. After a few weeks with the DE lamps (2x14k, 1x10K) I have shut off my VHO's all together. That makes the width of the luminarcs possible where it was not with the VHO's in the way.

Thks for the link

I actually asked Sanjay about the DE luminarc. He said that the SE one was bigger and had a wider dispersion.. so I guess it depends on the size of your tank and what you're trying to do.

Oh wow, I don't know how I missed that, thanks.

Do you happen to recall if he commented on how wide the spread was?

I'm thinking of using those reflectors over a 24" wide tank.

36" spread on the bigger luminarc. Don't know about the ones with the DE bulbs, but they will probably be smaller because the reflector is just smaller..

The DE one should be fine for your tank.
