Anyone ever tested water from a dehumidifier in a reef tank? I can't imagine that it many of the commercial chemicals found in tap water. I pull a ton of it, would love to dump it in my top off reservoir.

If you read through what Del;ta posted you will see that the biggest concern is most all dehumidifiers use copper coils. Copper is extremely toxic to our reef inhabitants. You could try to run it through a DI resin and then have it tested for metals, but then even if it was clean you need to worry about what starts to leach through as the DI is exhausted.

I wish that guy with the relative who did water testing would have followed through. I do have a copper tester, I'll run a test. I suppose it's not worth it, but I suspect that the return from evaporation would have cleansed many particulates from the water. Just wonder if anyone else has used it with success. Seems like an extremely efficient way to run a reef.
