Do I need to feed a rose bta?

MarkO

...
I picked one up from AA a few weeks ago. Since then it split twice, but only one survivor. I'm wondering if it's splitting out of stress? Alao, am I supposed to feed it?

"now" changed to "no"

You should feed it. However its highly debated on how often you should feed it. I feed krill and mysis to my anemones (E quadricolor and S. Haddoni). I have used scallop in the past with no problems as well.

Feed a lot, split a lot...
If your lighting isn't great, I would feed to suppliment. I feed my green BTAs a couple times a week with large pieces of shrimp. They love it.

I barely feed mine but they are kept under a 400w mh. I mine has split twice (three RBTA's total now) in the past six months. before that It just hung out for about two years. Feeding seems to make for good growth, In my case stress/environmental changes seem to precipitate splitting (heat once, large water change the other time). Ive gone for up to two months without feeding without any obvious adverse effects. That said I do usually toss them a chunk of shrimp every week or so when I'm not being lazy.

Scavdog,

I'm not sure what your saying in your post, did you have a problem feeding with scallops? I just got a carpet a few days ago and have been feeding it scallops, is this a bad thing?

I didnt think there was any problem feeding scallops myself, a little garlic on them...yummy!

my rose today walked all the way across the lenght of the 75g to expand over a flowbar. I have never seen it so big...it was getting dangerously close to my powerhead so I had to take move it...something tell me it will be back there again.
