Do you use a PH buffer?

Hello, I seem to be having a difficulty maintaining my ph levels.. I have been using Seachem buffer to keep a healthy ph level, does anyone regularly use a buffer? I have cleaned and calibrated my probe...

What are you measuring for pH? Trying to chase pH around is never a good idea. Do you measure the same time of day (it will measure highest just before lights go out, and lowest just before lights come on)?

Second that ^. PH is a function of Alk vs atmospheric Co2. Keep your Alk in range and forget about PH.

"Buffer" additives are just Alk additives and adding too much as you chase the PH numbers is not a good idea. Open your windows if PH is running low and Alk is good.

As long as your alk is in norm you should not have to worry about your ph, unless you got other issues, like an abnormally high CO2 in the environment where the tank is.

If you feel like it, look up CO2/Alk tables, usually found on planted freshwater tank forums. you can plot the CO2 really easily knowing the alk and that will allow you to figure out if there's an environment issue.
