Does anyone have a Euro Reef Skimmer with gate valve?

If you have a ER skimmer with gate valve mod could you send me a pic? I bought the gate valve kit from ER, and I am wondering if the valve sits underwater? If it does it seems like a stupid idea. Any pics or help would be appreciated.

The drain pipe comes up from the skimmer, then a T with an extension of the pipe going straight up. The gate valve goes on the middle part of the T sticking out to the side so that the gate valve is horizontal.

I'll go look for a pic of my old set up.

You can set it up any way it will fit best as long as the vent is after the gate valve. Mine is set up with the gate valve just off the skimmer body.

Thanks guys, my water is up higher than yours. I only have 7-8 in, I think? in there, but it is up about inch under the seam on the body. I am going to try to install it alittle higher, and see what happens.

Well the gate valve mod worked, well sort of. I found out there is a reason they have directions with the products we buy, and in the future I will follow them more close. I tried to install the gate valve, and it will not work with my sump, I dont have enough room. Well I tried to install it my way, and raised the skimmer up acouple of inches. Well It still wouldnt work,BUT when I put my skimmer back together, and decided I just wasted $50 I noticed something. My skimmer was WORKING! I couldnt believe it. I measured the new height, and wouldnt you know. Just like the original directions said, place the skimmer in 6-8in of water, not 10 like I had it. Well I guess all is well that ends well. If someone wants to buy a slightly used gate valve for a ER skimmer I can hook you up with one. Im not going to need it.

There is nothing you can say that I havnt said to my self at this point.LOL I am just really excited, because for the the last 10months I feel I have always had a thorn in my side with non functioning skimmers. Now I dont have any excuses, but I am sure I will find acouple.
