So I just changed from purple instant ocean to reef crystals to bring it up is that ok to do it that way

Make sure your tests are correct before changing anything. Can you take a sample to a local pet store and have them check it. Also have them check your salinity. Instant ocean salt doesn't run that low of Alkalinity. Reef Crystals runs high maybe around 12 DKH.
