DT's and Marine Snow - What's Diff??

I've been feeding my tank DT's. I noticed today it smells bad, which apparently means its gone bad. Even though I kept it in the fridge and have had it for about 3 months. So, I've switched to some Marine Snow which I also had. I kept them both in the fridge. They sound kind of the same when I read the label. Anyone know what the major difference is between them??

DT's is live phyto...Marine Snow is not. Marine Snow is a "man made" product that has not been proven to be beneficial to any corals. I've tried Marine Snow and the only benefit I saw was the amount the skimmer was collecting. Even while using DT's..I didn't think it was doing that much for my corals except increasing the nitrates and skimmate.

Didn't realize this was in the wrong forum. Oh well.

I think you're supposed to shake and open your DT bottle at least once a week.

There's also the question of which organisms actually benefit from DT.
