emerald crab question.

I've noticed lately that my emerald has white areas on its shell. should this be a concern and if so how do i fix it and most importantly what is it? it's eating well and moveing around well. the only problem i see is the discoloration. it covers about half of the shell in blotches.

they often get lighter shells as they get older too....
