i was just wondering if evaporation hAs an affect on mag alk or cal as far as testing goes will the result be the same im i tested to day then 2 gallons evapped and i tested after the evap?

it will have an effect, but how big of an effect is based on how much water you have to top off. if you have a 100 gallon tank and top off five gallons you will go from we'll say 100ppm to about 95.2ppm. so in reality it shouldn't effect it much.

CA, ALK and MG don't evaporate. Only H2O evaporates. Techincally the concertrations would become higher as water evaporates from your system, just like the salinity rises as water evaporates. Im guess you wouldn't be able to see the diffence in the any of the levels other then salinity.

I thought the salt did not evaporate?

The salt doesn't evaporate, that is why Miller said as the water evaporates the salinity will go up. This is because there is the same amount of salt now in less water. Same goes for all other elements as well.
