The way I understand it, is that the ich parasite's metabolism is dependant on temperature. When you raise the temp, it drastically speeds up the lifecycle of the parasite, which in conjunction with medication, makes it much easier to kill. (You can only kill it during 1 part of its lifecycle.)maxfischer said:some people say if your temp is above 82 it will kill the ich, do a search for this subject. i dont know if this is true, i have heard this a few times
NateHanson said:Wow! some serious bad feelings about Kick Ich on here.I'm actually suprised, because I thought in the past I'd seen a lot of qualified-positive experiences. (ie, not claiming it to be a cure-all, but helpful).
Have those of you with negative or positive impressions tried it yourselves or just heard bad/good things from others? (I'm not suggesting that the impressions aren't well-founded, just wondering how many people have tried it themselves)
I do think that if you have a limited infection (say one fish in particular) and catching your fish isn't easy (when is it easy?) then it might be worth it to give Kick Ich a try. My 2c.

skatezen said:Nate,
I understand your concern about the number of fish in that size tank, I was new, but in my defense 6 were neon gobies - supposed to eat ick. It all stated with a contaminate coral beauty in which the symptoms appeared in a few days. That was the last fish I added.
But let's get back on topic.
