When I bought it, the smaller one always just shake its body submissively. Now that it has grown to about the same size, it no longer wants to be submissive. This went on for at least 15 minutes until they are both tired. I have no idea who won.

You need to separate them or one will kill the other. I just dealt with this recently and fortunately have a fellow hobbyist nearby who took the other and has had great success.

my two clowns were fine for about a year or so then they started fighting day and night. they would circle each other constantly and there fins were all beat up. that lasted for about a month or two and now they are fine again. i guess they worked things out....
