Film at top of water

I have a Red Sea 130 system here and I upgraded the skimmer two weeks ago to the Tunze 9002 with the media basket, whole 9 yards. I came home today to notice I have some sort of film at the top of the water that almost looks like oil.

Any idea what this could be from?

Is there current or flow going towards the surface of the water?

One thing to mention, the skimmer is working, bubbles are forming and green gunk is in the cup.

Do you have any surface skimming?
Does the skimmer take any water from the surface, do you have a sump with an over low wall?
It's not that uncommon the have surface scum on a tank.

You can use a paper towel to remove a lot.
Just lay a sheet on the water surface and scoop and toss it asap.
Do that a couple time and that will get most of it.

Thanks, yes I have surface skimming. There is a small sump but I don't think the overflow is working.

Is the water flowing over it? Maybe you dont have enough water in your system. Just guessing

I have the same setup. I get that if I disturb the tank i.e. water change, filter cleaning, etc. Make sure there is current breaking the surface of the water and your skimming basket is set at the right level.

Also, did you get the free pump upgrade from RSM?

Thanks overlook...I do have the free pump upgrade as well. My skimming basket was set pretty low. I just raised it. Sounds like the skimmer is doing a better job now. The only question I get is the water in the back by the skimmer and heater does not look like it's passing through. Unless I'm blind.
