My pair of true percula clownfish has their first batch of eggs today. The young parents are busy fanning their eggs. Should I hatch this batch or wait for a later batch? The first batch is small.

Dong, if you have your rotifers ready & you're really ready to raise them, I would suggest trying to raise them. I don't see any point of waiting until the parents have larger batch of eggs. IME smaller batch is actually easier to raise than larger batch as far as maintaining water quality & food resource in the baby's tank.

On the other hand, if your not prepared to rasie the fry there will likely be many more batches in the future.

My percs lay a batch of eggs roughly every 3rd saturday. I haven't raised any yet, but they have been laying better and better looking batches of eggs for the past year or so.

Raising them is a project, but it's doable.

.

That is what I think, The later batch will be healthier.

Yes, but if you have the ability to raise them now, I'd say try.

If you have the food available, go for it now and get the practice.

If you don't have the food available, consider setting up for it, for the next batch of eggs?

i agree go for it, if u succeed then it is great if u dont it is a learning oppertunity

Ha, ha, my true percs lay every third Sat. like clock work. They have been laying for about a year now. I tried my first brood a few weeks ago and they lasted about four days. I have a very large brood right now that hatched Sunday night and I've had only a handful of losses. Dong, I would go for it, if anything just for the experience. The eggs should start hatching on the eighth night, about two hours after lights out. Mine take two nights to hatch, about 25% on the first night, and the rest the following night. Good luck.

I'd let the first batch go, then start feeding your female more enriched foods to better the next batch of eggs. Personally I'd get really discouraged if I tried to raise that first batch and they all died. I think attempting on a "more healthy" batch of eggs would make me feel better. BUT this is my own personal view

All the eggs are gone this morning
