First Tank; Trouble Tracking Down RODI

IHaveNoIdea

Non-member
Hi there,

I'm currently slowly putting together my first tank, I have everything I need to cycle, just missing the water.
I've called multiple aquatic stores around Boston to no avail, Petco has water but its $20 per 5 gals.

I've thought about pulling it directly from the ocean, however, people have mixed results of this.

Should I just purchase a 4 stage RODI unit or is there a secret place people get their water from?

Thanks!

I have a 40B which is not huge, but I cannot imagine not having RODI water on hand. Not only can you make salt water whenever you want, you have a source for other things like rinsing test equipment and filling ATO. I personally would not consider this "optional" equipment.

You can buy distilled water from Market Basket for $1 per gallon and mix your own salt. Hope this help

For cycle your tank, I have salt water from my tank you can have for free, but I can provide 15 gallon max per day, bring your own buckets.

European aquatics in Malden sells it for $1/gallon. Jays aquatics in Salem NH is $1 or $1.50/ 5 gallon bucket. Tropic Isle in Framingham is $1 per gallon.

All you need to bring your own bucket.

Totally agree with this. In the mean time, depending on where you are, I and I am sure many others are happy to make you some water if you have the buckets. (like Dong above)

I have 30gals on hand at all time. Your welcome to any you need. Like stated bring your on bucket.

Same here, in East Bridgewater 55 gallons fresh and 30 gallons brightwell Neo Marine usually always available in a pinch.

Wow thanks for the great feed back!
I think I'll add one to my wish list, but grab water for European Aquatics for the time being!

I appreciate it!
