Fish recommendations for a 55 gallon cube

Was wondering if anyone had any fish recommendations for a 55 gal cube... There's absolutely nothing in the tank right now (except LR) and I wanted to get a blue tang but the more I read the more I hear my tank is to small which is really a let down because I really like those fish . I am going to get a clown but figured I'd ask for help with the rest.

I have a 60 gallon cube. I am over stocked by most peoples standards but I am good with my husbandry and I have a bigger sump. Here is my list

2 BW Clowns
3 Smaller Anthias.
Citron Goby
Clown Goby
Bi Color Blenny
Arc Eye Hawk Fish
Pearly Jawfish.

Had all these for awhile and no problems. Knock on wood. I do a five gallon water change a week.

no blue tang huh ? i'm really screwed outta the tang arent I ...wamp wamp.. I am planning on putting coral in to so fish would have to be reef friendly

Just notice it is a cube, so no tang for you, hahaha (insert evil laugh from tang police)...

ugh i knew I wasn't going to be able to have one but I had to ask. Is a clown and a watchmen goby a good start or a clown and royal gramma ? or just a clown and wait ? can I put 2 in to start or just 1 fish

You can do two once the tank is cycled. Wouldn't do more than that at once. do you plan on doing a pair of clowns or just one. If you plan on a pair I would do them first

You can do a yellow eyed Khole tang
In a standard 55 gallon maybe, but not in a cube as it would probably only be about 2'x2' in size.

Are you going to be keeping any corals? The only thing with grazers in a small tank is that they can get very territorial. I would look in to some fish that you dont always see. Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse or White Banded Possum Wrasse, both reef safe and small so not load on your system, and both have a great personality. If you dont mind missing CUC any of the hawkfish are also great to watch, the long nose is one of my favorites. Royal Gramma or another basslet, could do a dottyback (but not with a basslet) such as a splendid, maybe a few cardinals (yellowstripe)

Just a few ideas.

Also look into a neon blue goby. (or neon gold if you prefer that color). Tank bred, hardy, tiny, great personalities.

yellow eyed or a tomini ? I hear the tomini is less aggressive but again I have a 55 cube ... i don't want any trouble from the tang police

Imagine a 5-6" active fish pacing back and forth against your front glass. A tang will not be happy in that size cube, and stressed fish aren't fun to watch.

Now some tang police might have an issue with this but I didn't it for awhile. I have the 60 gallon cube 24x24x24. If you get a baby yellow tang you could keep it for awhile just would have to Rehome it once it started to grow bigger. You can get one that's only a inch or two and be good for a year or so. Just throwing it out there if you really want one. Mine flew around the tank when it was small and ate like a pig and always seemed happy playing with the clowns.
