Basement Fishroom

Guess this is a good thread to introduce my recently finished basement with most importantly...the 90gal. I love how much room I have to work on the tank. Tank shot is blurry, sorry.

Every time I try to call it that the wife corrects me with "KIDCAVE". Guess I need to put up a SI Swimsuit poster! Thanks.

Your fish room looks great. I don't know what's so ghetto about it?

Lookit Ryan's! I gotz no plasma, no recessed lighting, no in-wall beverage cooler, no polished bah, either :p

Hmmmmm Ryan looks like I should come see your tank :o...

and maybe help you drink some beers and keep that TV running properly :p

Neither do I. Wait, let's not go there again. :o :D

So we should take notes from Ryan's set-up. Hey, at least you have a decent sized space for your equipments. Ise gots none with my stupid boiler in the way.

Well.....assuming you have water in your system ;) you will be thankful for how close that boiler is next winter. I had to move my wall around in my fishie room to keep the boiler accessible.

Due to MA code, I was considering putting up a few small walls to close off the sump area. Technically, it'll be too close to the boiler (< 4').

I've also got a couple spare radiators in the house. I was going to ask the plumber if it'd be possible to splice into the forced hot water pipes. I'm sure that won't be cheap though.

hehehe, my fish room wall is less than 1' from my boiler.....and I found out that my 120k BTU boiler isn't big enough to do my fish room and the attic I want to finish, so I have to upsize on my boiler......looking at options for that now......

but yeah, it's an expensive proposition.

I don't even want to think about upgrading my dinosaur of a boiler.

So you gonna have a man attic? :D I wish I could utilize my attic. It's got a lot of space, but not much of it is headroom. I'd need dormers. It's pretty friggin' creepy up there too. :o

kid-attic....but it's in dream stage right now.

gotta get back to work first.....my income is way down...my disability insurance doesn't even cover my mortgage and car payment, never mind everything else.

Ryan:
Awesome room!
Did you build the bar your self? If so where did you get the piece of wood for the bar top? I really like the natural style and look of it.

You guys crack me up. Paulthomas how bigs the tank you keep that Bonefish in, especially to toss a fly in it! Afboundguy I am always up for a frosty beverage (kidney stones ouch). Rusty18 got the slab of rough sawn pine from a local saw mill and just went to town with a power planner then belt sander. Put enough coats of poly on it...you could probably ice skate on it! Thanks for all the good words!

My guess is the tank is several million gallons. Maybe more... I've got it over in Andros, on the Joulters. :D No need for a skimmer or Zeovit.

That bar top is very shiny. Great idea using a slab of pine.

bigdog,

Is that a PM Redline skimmer? If so, how do you like it?
i have the rl 100 i am selling 2 another member four his tank because now i want the 150 but ya i like it sea creatures has them in stock and it is a nice toy
