flex-hose bonding?

Hello,

I am setting up my reef-ready tank and just noted a difference from my last tank. My last tank had a barbed fitting in the bulkhead, and I attached clear flexible tubing and used a hose clamp....this bulkhead has a smaller section of smooth PVC that slides in and could be cemented in the bulkhead. The OTHER end would have the flex hose slid over the smooth PVC....but since it is smooth, I don't think a hose clamp would be enough. I assume you can't use PVC cement on the flex hose material, is that correct? is a hose clamp enough on a smooth-smooth fitting?

Sorry for the simple question - just new to me.

Thanks,

Pat

get a union. put one end on the slip of the bulkhead. and the other on the flex hose. the union can be removed and taken out in two pieces just in case the future you have to disassemble.

home depot or lowes- sells these . grab some pvc cement while you're at it.

if you mean spa-flex, flexible PVC, you want to glue it....or you are a flood waiting to happen. Trust me :)
