You are looking at a Remora Nano Skimmer with surface skimmer:

The serrated area is in the correct place. The pre-skimmer is has a divider between intake and outlet. Angle of the pic might be throwing you off.

You need to take the plastic wrap off. It works better without it.

I'm going to need to return it. It's very obvious, plastic shouldn't interfere.

It's useless anyway beyond being way to big. that is the correct position you put the pump on the
skimmer then tighten the screws against the pump to hold it in place.

Surface skimmer is the way to go like 10 buck too

the stabilizers on the pre-skimmer are incorrect and there is no way to attach it to the skimmer?

Visualize how the remora is a HOB and how the pre-skimmer will sit inside the tank.

I was thinking the screws were there to level the box against the tank. Looks like I'm wrong.......again.

It does. The box is split for intake and return.

Yes. It was made for the the 1200 mj but should work with the 900.
