I don't. But I have its cousin: Griffis angel. I have had my Griffis angel since '01. It came in as a 1.5 inches peanut, and has grown to 4.5 inches since. It leaves SPS along and certain LPS as well. Like other Apolemichthys family members, once established goldflake can be hardy although not as hardy as flagfin, Griffis, Xanthotis, and Xanthurus.
Yes he's a model citizen, I have a coupla softies, zoos, and yes two crocea clams and lots of acros. The one thing he had a fancy for was LPS, definitely a no, no. He's been in my tank for almost four years, from juvi to almost mature. This was when he was a baby.
Why don't you try butterflyfish? I saw one Bank butterfly, Prognathodes aya, for sale for $175 from Marine Aquatics a couple months ago. Those deep-water butterflyfishes have a very good chance to be reef model citizens, assuming that you don't care about your tubeworm population.
Yah, my goldflake is a beautiful fish .. .but forget about any FLESHY lps like acans, open brains, dendrophilias, etc. Hasn't touched any acros, or clams. You have to make concessions . ..
I have a goldflake. Can't keep acans or zoa's but never had a problem with yellow or green polyps, rics, frogspawn and has never touched SPS. Also, 2 large clams seem to doing well.
Its a lovely fish but hit or miss whether it's reefsafe.
i have a 1" one in my 180 reef. I have large zoo colonies, sps, LPS (hammers, frogs, acan colony that is growing quickly) clam softies.
The only thing he seems to enjoy is the long tentacles on my button polyps.. they are ugly so i dont care, lol. the polyps dont seem to mind any as they still reproduce and grow.
