Good Hang on Skimmers

I have a Octopus skimmer with that Bubble Blaster pump. It is great. I like the Octopus hob models because the pump is not in the tank. A Mag 3 pump in the display tank can be pretty ugly. I'd go with the Octopus HOB.

The Octopus is the best HOB for the money IMO...The Bubble Blaster pump is the main reason, but there are other great features as well.

And yes it does come in black, we just sold one on Saturday. The Red ones are the old ones and are discontinued.

I am not going to say who it was but they told me that Octopus HOB skimmers are not worth the money and to go with the AquaC Remora with the mag 3 pump.

I have no idea who "who" is....but IMO they have no clue as to what they are talking about...
The Bubble Blaster pump will out perform a MAG, 10 to 1 any day......for much less electrical usage. you can't even compare the fractionation between the two. Has the person giving you your information seen them side by side, or even seen the Bubble Blaster pump perform?
While AquaC make good skimmers they can't hold a candle to some of the Octopus skimmers, especially for the price. Not sure where you are getting your info, but IME & IMO they are wrong or mis-informed
The deciding factor for me beyond anything else would be the least ugly in my tank....which is the Octopus by far...no ugly pump in the tank.

the only other skimmer I would use besides that for your tank size would be a Deltec MCE 600....but they are even more expensive, and a 'pita' to clean the pump.


But you must remember IME, I am in the school of thought that heavy skimming is a big part to the key to long term success of a reef tank. If that is not part of the theaory you wish to practice in your tank, then maybe the Remora will be fine.

Ok then! How much are the Octo HOB skimmer in black going for in your store?? I can't find it in black on the web.
