Green algae all over glass

Hey all,

Have a concern that might not be a big deal or it may be, that's why we have BRS though right. I constantly have to clean my glass of green algae everyday. Is this normal? Or no ? Thanks

1st question i would ask is are you using RODI water or tap water? too much green algae might be result of high phosphates...

+1 Is it a new tank?

perhaps your photoperiod is too long? how long do you keep your lights on?

excess algae could be caused by several things. also, are you taking heavy algae on the glass or a light dusting?

Every day? That's a nutrient load problem in my opinion. Couple of big turbo snails might help you just to slow it (NOT SOLVE IT), but you will need to fix the source. It is difficult to diagnose without more details on your setup (age, feeding, bioload, equipment/lighting, etc) however knowing nothing else about your tank I'd start with what others have said...

- Test for the source (PO4, nitrates, etc.)
- Change source water to filtered (RO/DI or at least Distilled for now)
- Normalize/reduce photo period (if yours is longer than average)

If you can tell us more, or the results of the tests/parameters then people might be able to suggest a possible solution. If it is nutrient related, a few larger than normal water changes may help slow your issue but ultimately you may need to change some things so solve the source or it will only continue or get worse.
