Green Hammer Separating from Head

pesto

Keeping it Simple!
I have a three head Green Hammer that has been doing really great. I added him to my reef on August 26th. Now, two of the three heads seems to have taken a turn for the worse. A small piece of the coral died and separated from one head. And now a different one of the three corals seems to be seperating from the head. Can someone explain and offer a possible solution?

You need to check parameters.
Frogspawn and hammer react badly to low alk.
What's the alk?

Ya my hammer and frogspawn never really grew or flourished until I started dosing alk, and upgraded my salt from I/O to Tropic Marine

I was just going to post the same sort of question, except the coral that I have is a torch coral that has the same symptoms. Mine separated from it's head overnight though. Is the answer the same? I just got my alk tester yesterday.

Thanks!

Could be.
Lot's of folks think PH is really important.
But alk,IMO,is probably the most important followed by calcium and Mg.
The MG helps keep th first 2 stable.

Sorry for the delay on my readings. I performed a water change yesterday. My readings are:

Nitrate (NO2) = <0.3
Nitrate (NO3) = 12.5
Ammonia (NH3+NH4) = 0.00
pH = 7.7 (Added Superbuffer - dKH to raise PH)
Carbonate Hardness (KH) = 8.0
Salinity = 1.024
Calcium (Ca2+) = 400.0
