Green micro algae build up

Hi

I have had a 55 gallon reef tank going for 1.5 years and am getting a lot of green algae growth on the glass. I have to scrub it off at least every two days. Is there any way to reduce this unsightly build up? My snails help but not hardly enough. Is it possible that I am feeding to much? I normally feed twice a day and the fish consume pretty much everything.

First things first:
-what size tank
-what kind of fish, how many
-what is there for filtration
-do you use Ro/DI for make-up water?

Options:
-reduce feeding (2x daily is more than double what I do)
-increase skimming (clean your skimmer or get a bigger one)
-check your make-up water (if it's not reading almost 0 on a TDS, that's probably the issue)
-get more snails (I only scrape coraline these days on account of all the snails doing a great job on the glass)

6 Fish: 2 clowns, 1 dragon goby, hog nose, 6 line wrasse and pajama cardinal
Emperor 400 bio wheel and Back-Pak 2 protein skimmer.
Always use RODI for water changes and top offs.

How many snails do you sugest for a 55G. Is any one paticular snail better than another? I mostly have astreas

you could also have a PAR shift on your lighting. How old are your bulbs? What type are they?

Water parameters? nitrates and phosphates in the water are algae fertilizer.....low alk will also facilitate algae growth.
