Greg needs people to help move 460 G tank

id like to help.pm me with directions.

damn low carb diet, I can't eat pizza :(

Moe,

>Any chance we can move the tank off the truck and onto some kind of cart or something for the ride to the garage and the waiting spot?<

I will be backing the truck up as close as I can to the opening of the garage. All we really need to do is gently lower the tank to the level of the driveway, and then walk about 5 feet into the garage and place it on its stand.

Have no fear, the snacks my wife will be making are mostly protein and fat....mmmmmm.

Wow it looks like there are a lot of people coming to help. In this case instead of carrying the tank I'll bring my camera and just take pictures :D

Greg, I would love to help but unfortunately I have only one week to finish my house before the move and I still need to paint 2 rooms and the kitchen and do the ceramic tile and hardwood floor in 3 rooms. :(

We moved my 340 from the truck to the stand in my apt (including a trip up an elevator) with no more than 4 people ever touching the tank, and truthfully, it could have been done with three. The trick for my tank move was simply never lifting the entire weight of the tank. We slide it around, either on dolley's or in some cases on blankets on the floor (tile is so convenient that way). I was amazed at how easy it was...

My tank weighed in the somewhere between 850-1200 pounds. Probably toward the lower end I think. My tank is 5' x 3' x 2.5' and is also made from starphire. I'm guessing this beast will be closer to the upper range.

I still don't know if I can make it up there to help yet.

:D More good news. Looks like my wife might just make some goodies!!! In Tagalog, the most common dialect of the Philippines, the word is "Pulutan". Food to eat with beer!! :D

I?m sure the food alone will be worth the trip

Greg, just a thought, but is this a temp stand or the permanent stand it will eventually be placed on in the room?

Reason I ask. It may be easier to put this on a temp stand so you can put the reg stand in place once the room is ready.
Otherwise, once you are ready to install tank you will need to:
Lift tank off of stand, hold tank while stand is moved, then move tank into place on the stand that was just moved

And I don't think you EVER want this tank to be lowered to floor level. The "lift power" you need to raise that tank up is FAR greater then what you need to simply carry it while at height

Just a thought.........

Will there be extra gloves, for some reason I can not find mine.

Greg went to New Jersey and picked up his tank. He says it is very heavy. Everybody please come, we will need a lot of people to move it.
