Group Buy on dryrock anyone?

Ray

frrrrunkis
I am in need of some base rock and was wondering if anyone wanted pool an order together? Maybe Marco could work something out for us? I will also talk to John at Sea Creatures and see what he can get. Or we could order from www.hirocks.com

with the record high gas cost, it is hard to beat the deal that hirocks are shipped to you droor step with less than $1 /lb including shipping.

The hirocks stuff is okay, but if you have seen the high quality of Marc's rock you might reconsider.

i will second that,awesome rock.

I agree that Marc's rocks are excellent. I had some too. But the driving to cape is a killer. Unless there is a large shipment into Boston (such as where Skipton located) for local pickup, the cost of Marc's dry rocks will be very close to local live rocks.

Thanks guys, I'd love to do a group buy with this. Just in time for fall projects. (god I hate to admit summers almost over). :D

As far as Hi rocks go.... well yea I know they are cheaper, and they should be!
I guess it all depends on what your looking for, if you intend on setting up short term then by all means buy the cheapest you can find....heck use the cement blobs, But when considering long term success in this hobby it's a good idea to consider more than first cost.

I'll post some details on a Group buy soon!
thanks again
Marc

way to go Marc! keep me posted.

Ya I have a couple peices from Marcs that was given to me and I sure would like some more. If we get a group buy I dont mind driving up to get it all and people can p/u around here. I have to go to the cape soon anyway :)

dry rock

I wouldn't mind getting in on this as well. I, too, about once to two times a month have to go out to the tip of the Cape for work and could probably pick up the order (if it would fit into a truck and backseat of a car, company car!).
Take care all.

I would be interested is a group buy.. I bought 60lbs from HiRocks and I wasn't impressed with it at all .. 1/2 of it was the size of golf balls and even smaller and the box was poorly packaged.. torn open and missing some... From now on I am only going to buy from fellow reefers and local stores...let me know and if need be I will pick up on the cape... it will give me a reason to go there and look around...

I bought over 100 lbs of Marc's rock. Nice stuff. The best part was picking out the exact pieces I wanted from his giant collection.

One more plug for marc. I thought I would need over 100 lbs, but the rock was so light I only needed half that. I bought almost 100 lbs anyway because the rock was so much better than other rock I had seen.

I also handpicked my rock, but ended up picking nearly every rock I pulled out of the box without disgarding much of anything. I would feel %100 comfortable buying a box of the rock sight unseen next time.

I believe that anyone wanting to keep a mandarin or any other fish that needs an actively breeding pod population would be very well served to fill their tank with this rock.

Marc, how much rock do you have left? And whats the $$ on it?

Wow thanks everyone....somehow I've missed alot on this thread.
Right now I only have some of the more dense pieces (~100#) kind of the left overs from cherry picking over a ton in the last year. I'm working on pricing and a way to deliver/ meet people for pick up.
Hypotheticly...Would this work?
I'm thinking maybe I could take pre-orders then based on the total #s say 3-400 min pick a meeting place for a Saturday morning (maybe some Home Depot).
Any input would be welcome

Marco, are you talking about ordering more of the light stuff you had?
