GRRRR Water changes the hard way

sw300galma

Sgt. Tang Police
So i come down to feed the 300 and notice the water level is about 6inches lower than it should be..

And I get that sinking feeling like OH S**T:(

I open the door to the garage and I dont even want to look...
50+ gallons on the floor...

Empty sump, burnt up heaters....

Well it seams as though i've found a weak link in my setup..

My little eheim that pumps water up to the fuge is set to low in the main display.

What happens is, my eheim canister pumps water from the display up to the fuge, then it overflows into the display again...

well the Aqualifter got clogged and the siphon stopped, and the eheim kept pumping water up to the fuge..createing niagra falls...I need to bring the pick up, up so that if that does happen again...even a light drop in level will stop it from pumping..

So i grabbed my RODI and started that up into the sump...

I'm going to have to mix up some strong salt water to put into the AutoFill tank and bring my saliltiny up slowly..

This sucks.....

Someone remind me again please why I like this hobby??
Huge electrical bills...heavy maint costs...equiptment failures...

Well at least it's a flood in the garage and not inside the house.

Ya that was last month my 52 Corner Bow decided to half empty

I walk into the house downstairs by the garage and get dripped on. I look up and see a wet ceiling...I knew what that was...

Go up and see my half empty tank...and my new hardwood floors all wet..

Sump return pump burnt out and my Eheim wet/dry spewed out water the 3rd line which is some sort of air line...knocking off the tank and draining my tank onto the floor...

I think I'm in the wrong hobby lol.

Don't be surprised to see a huge sale coming up lol...the misses isn't to pleased with my hobby.

Sorry to hear about your flood:eek: But as mentioned at least it was not in your home:p I think sooner or later everyone will get some kind of mishap or another. Perhaps it has showed you a flaw. I have an old saying. If you think it could go wrong it probally will. In britain we call it sods law:o
