Has anyone ever heard of a Pectinia coral?

I seen one at my local fish store and it looks kinda kool. I wanted to get it . I can't find much info about it i only read on one website that it needs medium light and medium flow but it said it ain't a coral for the novice reef keeper. It said it was a difficult coral to keep but didn't say much about it. I would really like to know a little bit about this coral if someone can help me out please.

Yup, I had one. IMO, it wasn't too hard to take care of once it was in the right spot (medium flow about midway in my tank). But it was pretty sensitive to other corals stings. Thats how I lost mine.

i had one at one point. like smcnally said, med. flow, med. light. water quality was something mine was sensitive to. i noticed a drastic decline in the coral if my water wasn't immaculate. maybe immaculate is a strong word, but you get the point. it was a little more sensitive in my water.

I have one now. Love it. It sits on the sandbed with medium flow. Does quite well. Every so often the tips die off and algae starts to appear. I take the coral out and trim the tips with a bone cutter. They heal up real fast and smoothen right up.

Here's a pic ... I believe this coral is an SPS. Can someone confirm or deny that?

I also have one. I found it to be very unusual in appearance is why it caught my attention. Somewhat antler appearence. Easy to care for, medium light, moderate water flow. I'd lean towards SPS, no polyps, fleshy feel to it with a skeletal structure beneath the surface. Medium to advanced hobbyist requiring Calcium, Strontium, Trace Elements. Temperment, peacefull, sensitive to aggresive corals.

I have one ... and infact I wrote an article for the next newsletter on this coral ... so I guess you should watch for the newsletter!!:D
