Having tank issues!!!

bostontim

Reefing ain't Easy
My tank is struggling. I had a serious hair algae bloom and some green/red algae cover the sandbed. I also am overran with tulip anemones. i know they arent that harmful but the have covered the back of my orange digita colony.
What i have done. I did a water change and added another maxijet to get more flow across the sand. I was planning on turning off lights till sunday to fight the hair algae. i dont think there is anything I could do about the tulips.
Am I taking the right steps? anything I should do different? in addition??

What are your parameters? Are you using RO/DI for your water changes?

Use Joe's Juice with all flow turned off to get rid of the tulips

I top off with tap. always have but never had this problem before. as for parameters:
salinity-1.025
pH- 8.0
copper- 0
nitrite- >.1
ammonia- 0-.25

ok. i gotta stop the tap. as far as the extra flow and lights out method. is that the right approach in the meantime???

It won't hurt.

Do you have a sump?
If so, growing macro-algae in there (Chaetomorpha is great) will help with nutrient control.

i do have one and i grow macro. well it doesnt grow well. i think i need a better light.

now i just need to get rid of these tulips.

I don't see any mention of PO4. That could be a contributing factor also.
