Help identify?

Sorry for the poor picture. For some reason my iPhone flips out with the led lighting.
So first off, this is a freshly cycled tank. It's been running for about 9-10 weeks.
I don't know where I picked up this hitchhiker, but this rock and substrate sat dry in my tank for 2 years and I bleached the rock for 4 days before starting the current cycle.
Can you help identify what this is and maybe possibilities as to where it came from?

Aiptasia. It is very invasive and can take over a tank. I would kill it before it multiplies. You can kill it with Aiptasia X, kalk paste or a turkey baster filled with boiling water. If you can remove the rock, take it out and kill it.

It looks like aiptasia. No clue how it could have gotten in there if the rock sat dry and was then bleached. You could get rid if it with some kalkwasser (pickling lime) paste.

I have had a lot of success with using peppermint shrimp to get rid of them. Whenever I see them pop up, I just toss a few in there and go light on the feedings. Should be gone within a few days.

Get some aptasia x or make a kalk paste and cover that thing in it. It's an aptasia and they spread like crazy

If its new, take the rock out. I personally have had no luck with any of the above suggestions. Always seems to make the problem worse. I would nip it before its an issue.

+1, especially if you can get the one piece of rock out easily. Why play games an eliminate it ASAP. Try not to disturb it too much when doing so. Good luck!

It's a pretty good sized rock. I'd hate to remove it and never put it back in.
Any idea why the bleach soak didn't kill it?
I will pull the rock when I get home from work and try to remove it...
Thanks everyone for the responses

How did you cycle the tank? If u used a piece of live rock from another system to cycle it. It could be from that.

I just used the rock I bleach bathed and used flake food. Took longer I think, but wasn't in a hurry.
I did put in a piece of coralline covered rock in but wasn't until a few weeks before the cycle was complete and that rock is on the complete other side of the tank. Guess it's more probable it came from that rock than living through the hell I put the other rock through though.

Its not really a matter of removing and never using again. Remove the rock and get rid of the aptasia. I personally would kalk paste it out of the water and let the paste harden. Then wait a few days so you know that little %&$* is good and dead, then add the rock back to the display to continue the cycle.

Ive had a bad aptasia outbreak. Bad enough that it was killing corals and had me on the edge of taking my tank down. It isn't something you want.
