help skimmer problem

i been using this skimmer for 1 month. it was fine so far until 1 week ago it fill the cup of wet foam within 1 day. i check ammo it goes like .5. can't find the reason why. help

it is the Turboflotor Skimmers 1000 multi, it getting worst. fill up the cup every 6 hr now. thinking the horseshoe crab is dead. don't see it or the corpse

Skimmer going nuts and ammonia level going up means something is dead or dying............

(or maybe the long shot option that something is contaminating the tank / water??)

carefull!! horseshoe crabs have copper based blood..

how can i find the horseshoe crab without seeing it anyway?

try using a plastic fork and try sifting through the sand for it.. Check your alkalinity too! just in case! my skimmer went nuts after a cleaning for about a week and my alk dropped like a stone!

I've had a small horseshoe crab get wedged under rocks and die, no major tank issue as a result, but it was small. It doesn't seem like you're sure if it's the skimmer or the water???

Do you see oily film at your water surface? Does your livestock seem to be affected by water conditions? Are you keeping the sump at a higher level and haven't adjusted the skimmer?

yes i see oily film on water surface. 2 clownfish seem to be fine. i have no sump
