Help with Stocking list for 50g?

Hey guys, im just daydreaming as I plumb this sucker up. This is my most recent idea for stocking this bad-boy. Its a 50g with a 40B sump, posibly plumbing in a seperate 15-20g refugium.

2x true percs
Spotted Mandarin
4-line wrasse
yellow clown
Desjardini Sailfin Tang (baby/juvi)

no dedsjardini tang the tank will be too small....either the 4 line wrasse or the mandarin. Both will compete for the same copepods food source and the mandarin will lose....I personally wouldn't add the mandarin if at all till my refufium had been going a good 6-12 months....just my take....

It really has alot to do with what you plan on stocking for corals. Yellow clown gobies can really do some damage to sps. Percs will host in some soft corals, or if you provide an anenome for it, the anenome will sting sps. Many people will say your tank is to small for tangs (the tang police) I've kept several differant tangs in a 45 gal. Just be ready to move them when they get larger.

Hey John,
I'll have to check out this tank once you get it up and running. I'd go with a nice dwarf angel instead of the Tang. Flame, Potters, Golden, are all very nice looking candidates. I'd also throw in a bunch of different cool little gobies :) I love adding lots of little interesting fish, makes lookin at my tank more fun. Maybe even try a pistol/goby combo?

I was thinking about that. I dont know which type Id get though...

As for the 4-line and the mandarin, Ive heard that 4-lines are easy to train to take prepared foods, which would help quite abit in the copepod section... I think im going to set up a good sized fuge, and wait a few months before adding them to the tank.

Maybe a golden angel instead of the sailfin? (pic in the link below)

I think the 4-line will still eat the live food when he finds it. It's gotta be tastier than the frozen stuff. Besides, even a mature 50g tank with productive fuge might not be able to meet the copepod needs of a mandarin. I'd restrict yourself to mandarin that takes frozen food in the store. Otherwise it doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Any of the pistol goby combos would be great. I really like lots of small fish filling various niches in a tank. More intersting than four large fish in my opinion. The prawn gobies seem to come in two sizes. There's one group that grow to about 5 inches (huge), like the pinkspot. Then there's the smaller group like the whiteray, blackray, randals. I think the small ones are more colorful and interesting, and also have the advantage of being able to keep a pair if you want. Their paired candy-cane shrimp are also better looking and won't undermine your rockwork the way the 3 inch tiger pistols will.
