highest PC watts???

I believe what Dong was getting at is that watt for watt, you get more light out of a MH than a PC, thus to light your tank with the same amount of light you'd need less wattage with MH bulbs than with PC bulbs, so it would be cheaper to run... however, if you're comparing, say, a 150W MH bulb with approximately 150W of PC lights, the cost will be similar (the actual wattage used will depend on the ballasts, but they should be close).

Well, last time I checked (and I believe Ohm's law hasn't changed recently), power equals current intensity (amps) times voltage, which is the same as, current intensity equals power divided by voltage... so if you're running a 150W load on 120V, you'll always get the same intensity, 1.25A... now, as I mentioned before, different ballasts will have a different level of efficiency, meaning that to put 150W on the bulb they may consume more than 150W... but for rated power, 150W of MH (or of anything, for that matter) will draw exactly the same amperage as 150W of PC.

 That?s precisely what he is saying.;)

ok my head is clear...anyone with some ideas on my question about fitting light into my fixture? it's tight now but can i fit new ballasts in it for higher wattage bulbs?

no, you can't. Sorry.

what, what....was that to me...just like that i can't...no way at all.....i think that is a challenge if ever heard one....

The reasons why you can't do it were explained on the first page of the thread... higher wattage PC bulbs are physically longer, they just won't fit into your fixture.
