What type of algae? Cleaning the glass? I clean my viewing sides daily, and the back I scrape once a month or so. I like the clean black back, rather than coraline covered.....
If you were worried about the snails getting algae or something like that it should be fine now. As far as coraline if you like the look scraping it off is going to help the coraline grow most likely.
"As far as coraline if you like the look scraping it off is going to help the coraline grow most likely."??? I dont understand what your saying TomD??
Yes, Im wondering about Coralline algae. Ive never seen some in my tank. Does it take having corals for it to appear?
You don't need corals or bright lights to grow Coraline. You do however need to keep your calcium about 400- 450 and alk levels between 9 and 11 dkh. I get faster Coraline growth under the compacts in my fuges then I do under the 250w mh in the main display.
Don't worry in time you'll think scraping Coraline is as much of a PITA as everyone does!!!
