i have 3 now. powder blue small about 2 or 3 inch a yellow about 3 or 4 inch and a sail fin about 5 or 6 inch a pj card and a morron clown about 3 inch
only about 120 lbs of rock and all small frags for coral witch is not a lot YET lol so tell me what you think id like deff 1 more a noser tang (spelling) but would like a purple and others i was told today just 3 and i know he knows what hes talking about but im deff going 4 lol

No more you already IMO have to many. When that PB and purple get big you are going to have aggression issues in your tank. The sailfin alone is going to outgrow your tank.

adding 1 more tang should be fine imo. the thing is you already have tangs in your tank. and your going to have problems adding a new tang to your tank. i heard if you want to have multiple tangs in your tank to add them all at the same time. you may have a chance if you buy the new tang bigger than the tangs that are already in the tank. and i think the fish you want is a naso tang. btw adding a purple and yellow to the tank at different times i think is asking for trouble since they have the same body shape

Swimming space and territorial behavior are big stress factors for tangs. You could keep 10 in a 6 foot tank, but I don't think that would bode well for their health over time.

There is no concrete formula for how many tangs you can keep in any given sized tank, but you can trust that the more you have the more stressed they will be, and the shorter their lifespans will be. Please think about that for a few and don't just write me off as a "hater" of some sort ;)

deff wont right you off and thanks for the in put. ill go with just 4 then

FWIW, IMO / IME the territorial thing is vastly under appreciated. Just because they are not in a heated battle, doesn't mean that there is not a territorial tension going on.

I'd use the analogy of a prison yard. The gangs are not rioting at the moment, but it doesn't mean that there is no tension ;)

If it were me I would definately stop at 3 no matter how tempting one more is.

hmmmmm ok any want a yellow tang and how do i catch him/her

ok so 3 tangs what about other fish?????

My Only Question is How long has that pb tang been in there??? If to long that tank would be his messing with any new tang!

Lots of other fish that would probably mesh just fine with the tangs.

That would be like rabbits or puppies showing up in the prision yard analogy, no increase in that gang (tang) territory tension....

Purple tangs are really pretty....but really really aggressive. I got one as a newbie, and it fought with my yellow, and outright killed my copperband butterfly.

For the most part however similar shaped fish will also cause issue. A hippo tang may take issue with a Bellus angel due to shape. Well I actually had issue with that mix so
that is why I brought it up. Blennies are famous for fighting with tangs hence the hickeys on their sides. Been there too. :D

Hey, I didn't say that there were "no fish" that won't mesh well with the tangs ;) I agree ^

The LMB I had also gave my YT wicked hickeys too :)
