Hydor's Koralia pumps are finally able to be purchased.

Well I got mine in. I got the 1 and 2. My initial impression of the 2 was that it was big, but it puts out a lot of flow. They have a very wide flow so you can have them closer to corals and not have to worry about flesh being ripped off. Also they are almost silent. My powerheads I had on there made noise and once these were on there was no extra noise, other than the start up. I should be able to get some pictures and probably a video up later tonight.

Just a note:

Resun is also putting out a prop pump. Theyre not available in the US, but they should be in the next couple months. The Resun one is totally controllable, and the 3000gph one is selling in china for the equivalent of $40 US.

wow, this sounds like a good alternative to the tunze. i will wait to see how theses do long term before i buy for my new build

i am very interested to see how big these are. if you post some pictures, could you use something as a reference so we can get an idea of how bulky these are? thanks.

Hmmmm making me rethink drilling my new tank for a closed loop. Now if they are controllable that would close the deal.

I can't wait to get mine in MON. They look real good and i can have 2 pw in stead of the 3-4 i got right now:)

They are 4" long without the mount. 5.5" with the mount. Cross section is 2" dia. In my opinion they are less ugly than the Sieo they replaced in my tank. I spoke with Hydor about speed control. On/off controllers will mess up the motors long term, they did say that voltage control wave makers would work. (dimmer switch)

Could anyone give me an example of a voltage control wave maker?

Here is a picture of my 10g tank 20'' with the koralia 1 on the left and 2 on the right

I'm getting my Koralia 1 pump probably Monday. I'll post a rewiew. I put a torch, hammer and frogspawn in my tank and now my Seio 620 is too much. It blows them around and they close up. I have the collar turned so it turned almost all the way down. The magnet mount is definately going to be a plus as far as adjustment. With about 175gph coming from the return and 400gph from the Koralia I should have decent flow for a 30 gallon softy/zoo/lps tank. Because of the way the Tunze, Seio, Koralia pumps are made, am I right when I say you get sort of a alternating flow because the water comes out swirling? Kind of like a sawed off shot gun, the the distribution is semi random?

Yeah the flow is random. When my water level gets to high the force from my koralia 2 will every now and then push some water over the edge. I can really tell the difference it the water surface, before with an mj 1200 pointing right up at the top it was almost always the same ripple pattern, now there really isn't a pattern. I also have noticeably more pe than I did before.

I set up a light dimmer switch on mine and it worked just fine. I have full controll of the speed. The only thing that I did not like was the way the light dimmer was set up to reduce voltage to a full off. I am concerned about hitting the motor with less than full voltage when starting from a stop. I replaced the light dimmer with a ceiling fan speed control (like a dimmer) but it goes from off straight to full power then reduces voltage as you turn the knob.
