Hydor's Koralia pumps are finally able to be purchased.

my #3 went down this morning.
it has been running fine for awhile then this weeeknd it decided to start and stop on its own. happened 2x while i was in the room. thought ii might be the outlet so i moved the power head. came in the room this morning and the pump was off but plugged in. i decided to unplug it and rebuild it for the 3rd time..... plugged it in to the gfi and it popped
have you been emailing hydor directly via their website?

could stray voltage cause a coral to rtn?

I emailed them based on their address up on their site. Mine only blew the GFCI once, but when I metered it, I saw no real stray voltage. I believe fish may have issues with stray voltage as I think they are sensitive to it with the lateral line? but not sure about corals.

change it to a 4. 4 is much better.

Okay, here's my fiasco story...

I emailed their site about the two #3's i recently bought and if I needed to do anything. They were working fine but I wanted to know if I needed to worry. Their US rep in California wrote back to me telling me to ship my pumps back to them for testing via UPS collect. I went to the local UPS Store and they said they could only send it COD. I wanted to take care of this as quickly as possible but they wanted over $100 to ship overnight! So I settled for ground which still came to $27! I was thinking "major rip-off here" but Hydor was paying for it and I had no other choice. Then they tell me that I have to pay first and then they will collect a check from the recipient when they deliver the package and send the check back to me. What a rediculous way to do things.

Anyway, now Hydor rep says they have no way to give the UPS driver a check, so he offers me another free pump instead. Ok, I'll settle for that. So I call UPS and they now tell me that if they don't get a check upon delivery that they will send the package back to me and I will have to ship all over again! UPS policy, they can't cancel a COD once in progress. WTF! They also tell me that it would have been easier if I shipped freight collect, oh, but "UPS Store" is independently owned so they can choose what they will or won't offer and they set their own prices. They said I should have gone to one of their offices instead. Stupid me! I thought "UPS Store" WAS one of their offices!!

Sooo, my new Koralia 3's have spent the past week in transit to CA, and will now be spending the next week in transit back! Meanwhile, my tank is starting to look stagnant again and algae has taken a foothold on my SPS frags! Needless to say, I am ripping pissed right now!

In all fairness, the Hydor rep has been pretty accommodating and apologetic and said he would try to makeup for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, we have moved beyond inconvenient at this point, but that's mostly because of this whole UPS BS! I don't think I will ever be using UPS again...

David Y - that stinks, sorry to hear you had to go through that.

If you haven't already arranged something, I'd have the Koralia people mail you out the replacements, and then ship you a return label (which would be on their UPS account number). That way they will get their things back, and you can use the same box they sent the new ones in.

I luckily had a really good experience with Hydor and returning my 3s. I sent them back on a Tuesday via slow-boat UPS ground. I got the delivery receipt the following Tuesday. That Thursday or Friday (I was away on a trip so not sure which day) my two new 4s arrived from them via USPS Priority mail.

Yea I practically had to beg them to please just cut a check and give it to the UPS guy when he comes to deliver my pumps so I don't have to pay and wait to reship them again. I never heard back from them but according to the UPS online tracking, the package was delivered today, so I should be getting my replacement pumps soon.

I originally asked the hydor rep for an account # to charge the return shipping to, but he said just send it collect. I think the way it should have been done was what nickybase said. They should have overnighted me the new pumps with a return label so i could send the old pumps back in the same box with a prepaid shipping label. That way, I wouldn't have had to be without any pumps.

After reading this thread and others I think I will spend the couple extra $$ on the Tunze 6025 or 45. The quality of the Tunze seem superior as far as the grade of the plastic and the magnet and overall construction. I wanted to save a few $$ but don't think it's worth it now.

After what I've just been through (and I still don't have my pumps back yet!) I don't blame you one bit. I'm beginning to wish i had spent the extra $$ for even just one tunze stream right now. Right now i got nothing! Hopefully I'll feed better about the koralia's again once I have them up and running. But right now, I am very disappointed.

The 6025 Nanostreams make some good flow, but their attachments to the included magnetic holders are flimsy. I've seen 2/3 that I own break. Jeremy stepped up and replaced the one that was broken in the box, and I just superglued the second one. The tabs are so weak that you won't disassemble it anyway. Couple of occasional clicks on startup on a power cycle, but solid flow. And like it was said earlier.....I've never lost the pump.

Still hadn't heard from hydor as to what was going on with my replacements so I sent them an email this morning. Frank, their rep sent back this afternoon saying they shipped yesterday and gave me a tracking#. I checked UPS and they shipped last night (a day after receiving mine). Adding insult to injury, they shipped it ground so they won't get here until end of next week. I guess it doesn' matter anymore as my sps frags are all dead. I can't blame that totally on them, but if I wish they had been quicker about getting me my replacements back.

Be careful Josh. My #3 literally almost killed me.

C'mon  That was the most excitement you've felt in a long time Tom.... tell the truth... :D ;)
