I am looking for DOW FLAKE

Hey guys. Ive got a 50lb bag just sitting around.
Mixed up one 2 gal batch and have only added it once. With my tank load, water changes seem to keep Ca actually on the high side

Anyways. I noticed a bunch of you guys were looking for some. I could spilt it up 5-10lbs a person, and keep 5lbs for myself.
If anyones interested just shoot me a pm.
Free of Charge or a small frag that could actually force me to supplement Ca in the near future :D

Cheers
Bryan

Well I found the mother load at a local feed store in pelham NH they had 3 pallets of Calcium chloride from a manufacturer called MONSON COMPANIES.I didn't buy any cause I didn't know if this brand is any good but I posted a thread over in reef chemistry on RC.

Here is the company link if you are interested in researching this

I know this thread is old but what were the responses at RC? Just tried to do a search and couldn't. I have the same stuff made by Monson companies.

Kevin,
The only hesitation on using this brand would be that no one has done an analysis of the properties unlike the Dowflake brand which Randy HF has. I still find it in large quantities at HD in Shrewsbury. Last week they had at least a pallet or 2.

This is a really old thread in with I found that particular type but never used it. I made a post over at RC but can't search and find the thread. I ended up finding and using Dowflake instead of taking the chance with the unknown

Just a heads up - saw some Dowflake at the Franklin, MA Agway today. It's ride for anyone coming from NH, but if someone's looking locally. They had at least a half dozen bags.

Home Depot in Natick had a pallet yesterday as did Shrewsbury. It is seasonal so get it when you see it.

Just bought 2 bags over at Home Depot in Saugus(Rt1)

I dont want to sound like a complete a**, but you can use rock salt, dowflake to raise calcium in your tank?

Dowflake = calcium chloride (and a few other compounds at much lower levels).
It's not rock salt, but it will melt the ice on your driveway. That's the standard use for the product.

Rock salt is pretty much sodium chloride (like table salt) with other impurities.

Randy analyzed Dowflake and found it makes an excellent calcium supplement for our tanks.
